Lights, Camera, Water, Action
Well film tour submissions are starting to show up in quantity!
Apparently the word is spreading among the amature and independent fly fishing film makers out there. We won’t have the definitive film tour line up until November 30th, but all I can say is WOW! The bar is definitely being raised. I’m kind of lucky cause I get to see these new films before most others out there.
The cinematography, editing and quality of some of these submissions are nothing short of amazing. Some people say the world is getting smaller, but after looking at these films, the scenery, the waters, the fish I can tell you the world is big, and there are still places that exist without time.
The thing that I am excited to see with some of these films is that they are not just about landing a big fish, but the story behind the fish. This is key for any submission that will be considered.
Now knowing that a fair share of us live on a trout bums budget there is a nifty gadget out there for novice film makers who want to capture those under water shots.
The camera is the new Digital Hero 3 from GoPro
This is an affordable underwater camera that is totally sealed and water proof up to 100 feet. Perfect for deep sixing those underwater shots, and it won’t break the bank. I met up with the GoPro crew at the Outdoor Retailers in SLC a few weeks back. This little camera is built to take abuse. You can get nearly an hour worth of footage with a 2GB SD card, and it also takes 3 megapixel stills. A great addition to the budget film makers arsenal.
