“A key benefit behind the textured surface is it changes the meniscus force balance of the floating line on the water’s surface - the line is no longer both above and below the surface, but sits higher on top,” said Jeff Wieringa, who helped lead Scientific Anglers development team at the 3M lab. “With the Sharkskin technology, we improve floatation, reduce line friction through the guides and on the water, all leading to easier mending, easier roll casting, easier pick-ups and longer casting distances.”
