San Diego / Encinitas Show Rescheduled

The San Diego/Encinitas show is being rescheduled.
We could say that you guys are just getting to much rain down there for us, but that's not the case.
Due to a scheduling conflict with other fly fishing related events we have decided to reschedule the show to a later date this spring. We would hate to have people miss the opportunity to come out to the show due to other obligations.
We will have the new show date up for the San Diego area up on the web site within the next couple of weeks.

Shark Skin

Todays winner is Loren Williams!
Loren send an email to info@aegmedi.com to get your new line!

Today we will give away our last Shark Skin 5weight fly line of the Play and Win Contest. Thankyou Scientific Anglers for making this kickoff so successful.

Here is a quote from SA's lab report:

"By modifying the surface of the fly line with a micro-repeating structure, you can achieve surface interface properties that mimic nature such as the ability of insects to walk on water, the shedding and self-cleaning ability of Lotus leaves, or the adhesion that allows a gecko to walk up vertical surfaces.
Scientific Anglers Sharkskin technology is a precise texturing process that embosses the surface of the fly line coating with a repeating geometric micro-pattern. The finished surface is no longer smooth, no longer exhibits unwanted line flash, and can be optimized via the engineered shape, depth, and frequency of the pattern to yield greatly improved line-to-water floatation, casting performance, and overall line suppleness and durability.
"

Sounds, um, technical. Here are some questions I feel confident in asking and answering: Do these lines cast well? yes. Do these lines float well? yes. Are they worthy of all fuss and excitement? yes. These lines do cast very well, float well, and the bottom line is they do a darn good job of getting your fly to the fish. Give one a cast.

Todays winner is Dan Corbett!
Dan, send an email to info@aegmedia.com
and claim your prize

Loon Outdoors Compartment Bag, retail value $59.95

This bag from Loon is their answer to wet and dry gear storage, their words:

"Keep your dry stuff dry and your wet stuff stowed until you get home. The compartment wader bag holds all of your gear, wet or dry. Dry stuff stays topside, while the bottom opens up into a meshed compartment so wet stuff can air, away from the dry stuff. Waterproof divider separates the top from bottom compartments. Internal and external pockets keep the rest of your gear organized."

Time is ticking, and tickets are going out the door, don't miss your chance to watch the fly fishing movie event of the year. You can purchase tickets by clicking on the image below.

Patagonia Guidewater Vest - today's item

Bill Woberkind! You are todays lucky winner.
Send and email to info@aegmedia.com to claim your prize.

Behold, one of the coolest vest's we have ever seen. The brand spanking newPatagonia Guidewater Vest, retail value $200

"The Guidewater Vest replaces old-school multiple pocket/flap storage with curved-zipper organization “panels.” This radical departure from convention attempts to improve visibility of, and access to, vest contents with one, single-handed motion. Angler-designed storage system conveniently and intuitively organizes fly boxes, tippet material and tools. The Guidewater Vest features stretch nylon and mesh construction, front and back snap storage, padded shoulder support, attachment points, removable fly patch and rod holder. This vest takes it's cues from our earlier models but that's where the similarities end."

While in Mongolia this fall, we were lucky enough to use one of these new vests, Auggie wore his nearly every minute of every day. The design is very versatile and the pocket design does pack a lot of gear without making it too bulky.

AEG hits Iraq!

When we pulled the name this past week on the Play and Win Contest for the Loop Rod and Reel combo little did we know that it was going to be Sergeant Mike Doughty. After he contacted us to claim his prize we found out a little bit more about Mike.

Mike recently returned home from serving in the U.S. Military in Iraq. As a matter of fact he returned home the day before we pulled his name as the winner! Then we found this picture of him totally pimping the film tour shirt in the Iraqi desert.

Not only is Mike a member of the US Air force, he is also a member of the Loop Army which means he can doubly whoop ass.

A personal thank you to Mike from all of us at AEG for his dedicated service in defending our country and for pimping the AEG goods all the way from Iraq.

AEG will be doing a free show for our injured troops at the Walter Reed Hospital in Washington DC on March 11th.

Want to join the Loop Army? check out www.looptackle.com

And if you haven’t checked out the AEG blog in a while you totally got a sneak peak of the new Loop AEG signature series rod which will be available at a Loop recruiting station in the very near future.

For those of you that haven’t registered for the Play & Win contest you still have time.

We will be giving away swag all the way up to January 29th before we launch the Fly Fishing Film Tour at the Patagonia world HQ in Ventura California on Wednesday January 30th. We may just be giving away some more Loop weapons.

The only way you can find out if you win is to check back every day. Winners are announced daily at 10 a.m. PST.

Join the Loop Army.

"The Guide Boot is made of high quality durable leather, features protective
rubber toe guards, quick draining durable mono mesh panels, and offers triple
stitch construction. The Guide Boot incorporates Boa Technology's patented
replaceable stainless steel lace and reel system for a customized glove-like
fit. Forget about tying laces, retying laces, and laces that break. Simply set
the Boa Dial to the appropriate tension and your'e off."

Well, that's it for today, the winner of these boots will be announced tomorrow at 10am, so check back and see if you won. Don't forget, you can increase your chances of winning by refering friends to our contest, and also by filling in profile details in the member section of our web site.

2. Island Hopper zip-off pants, retail value $75

Here is a blurb about the Surf Sneaker:

"The footwear of choice for chasing the beach blitz, gripping a rolling skiff deck, rock hopping through the surf zone or chasing that shimmering tail on the flat. The Surf Sneaker employs the same tried-and-true cupped midsole and tough outsole as the Marlwalker, but with a softer flex pattern for more “give” on boat deck and shore breaks. Costa Del Mar - Day 8 FFFT Play and Win Contest Item

Todays winner is Dan Nolten!
Dan send us an email at info@aegmedia.com
so we can send you your prize.

Today's prize:1 pair of Costa Del Mar Harpoon sunglasses, retail value $149

I am almost positive these were the pair of glasses Brian lost this fall while in Mongolia...We were walking across a nice grassy field when someone started yelling 'BEES! BEES! BEES!' we had stumbled upon a some kind of mud wasp nest and everyone was stung but me. In the process, Brian swatted off his hat an glasses into the field and kept running, after many sweeps back through ground zero, we determined it unsafe to keep looking as we were swarmed every time we got back into the danger zone. - Justin

D7 - Monday Madness!!

Todays winner is Brad Peters!
Brad send us an email at info@aegmedia to claim your prize.
Back on tap today is another Shark Skin 5 weight line from SA.

Here is another note from the design team:

“A key benefit behind the textured surface is it changes the meniscus force balance of the floating line on the water’s surface - the line is no longer both above and below the surface, but sits higher on top,” said Jeff Wieringa, who helped lead Scientific Anglers development team at the 3M lab. “With the Sharkskin technology, we improve floatation, reduce line friction through the guides and on the water, all leading to easier mending, easier roll casting, easier pick-ups and longer casting distances.”

As always, if you haven't signed up yet, click on the image below for all of the details.

Tour Schedule Update

Most of you have noticed that the entire tour schedule is not showing up on the web site. We have had some technical issues with the March 13th shows and we are working on resolving the problem. We will get this corrected and the remaining show listings will be back up on the web site shortly as well as some new additions we have made to the tour schedule.
Ticketing is still available and everything working on the shows that are up on the current schedule so if you are in those cities be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible. Many of the shows sold out last year. We would hate to have you dress for the prom and show up without a ticket.

In the mean time check out the Screen Room and watch the teasers for this years tour line up.
