When his toughest role came in his personal life, he did what Nike employees do. He took action.

In December, Ella, Bill’s daughter, was diagnosed with an incurable disorder called Rett Syndrome.

Rett Syndrome is a debilitating neurological disorder that affects almost exclusively girls. The disorder occurs in 1 in every 15,000 girls and is completely random. The girls develop normally until 18-24 months of age and then begin to lose their speech and motor skills. Most lose hand functionality and many develop seizures, scoliosis, and can lose the ability to walk. One prominent doctor states, “We all are familiar with neurological diseases; I'm sure everyone has seen some one with epilepsy, or Parkinson's disease, bipolar disorder or cerebral palsy. But when you see symptoms of all these diseases in one individual, as in Rett, you are struck by this.”

Bill’s third fundraiser of 2008 for the IRSF (International Rett Syndrome Foundation) will take place August 8-10th in the snow capped Rocky Mountains of Colorado. With the help of the Rocky Mountain Angling Club, Sage fly rods and the High Country Club, 8 two-person teams will be putting their fly fishing skills to the test in a catch and release competition. They’ll be fishing private waters along the Fraser River in Winter Park and the Yampa River in Steamboat Springs.

Entry fee is $600 per person ($1,200/team). Entry fee includes 2 days access to great private water fishing on properties of the Rocky Mtn. Angling Club, 3 nights lodging at a beautiful 10,000 sq ft. house in Steamboat Springs courtesy High Country Club, and all the food and drink you can handle. There will also be a live auction Saturday night for some great prizes including a Sage Z axis rod and 2550 reel.

If you are interested, please contact Bill Farnum at bbfarnum@mac.com. Space is limited to the first 16 people. There will be a $100 deposit to hold your spot.

100% of the proceeds will go to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation.

AEG Media stands behind Bill and his family and will work with him to help find a cure for Ella and many like her.

Learn more about Ella and the Farnums fundraising efforts at http://www.believe-in-me.org

Learn more about Rett Syndrome. http://www.rettsyndrome.org

Hog Island Enters a Three-Year Commitment with AEG Media as their Equipment Sponsor

Portland, OR (June 4, 2008)—Over the next three years Hog Island has committed to be the Equipment Sponsor for AEG Media in both the film production series and the Fly Fishing Film Tour.

Hog Island Boat Works manufactures the World’s only roto-molded drift boat. Their drift boat hulls are molded as one seamless piece with a plug and play platform for accessories for fishing and multi-days. This is the World’s largest manufactured skin-foam-skin part. This cutting-edge manufacturing process took Hog Island nearly three years to perfect and the result is an awesome unsinkable drift boat that absorbs impacts quietly, and handles true on the water. “I came up with the concept after banging around in other drift boats, and scaring off fish in the process,” says company president John St. John.

Due to Hog Island’s wide bottom design, soft chine and smooth nature of plastic, their boats are stable in cross currents, and don’t swim at anchor. This is a four-wheel drive sports car in the river that is comfortable running extremely low technical water, bouncing through big waves, and sailing over drops.

AEG is dedicated to using Hog Island’s gear, over the next three years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. Hooah! Man, that fishing trip in Patagonia was great! I only wish I could make the same trip. I actually enjoyed the deleted footage as much as the regular movie.

I am looking forward to watching the Kiwi Camo video next.

The photo attached is me, (handsome devil on the left), and LTC Paul Huszar. He was my boss earlier in the deployment. We have spent a good bit of time B.S.ing about fly fishing as a momentary diversion to the days. LTC Huszar is the Operations Officer in the 20th Engineer Brigade (Airborne). I am the Construction Operations Officer in the 1203D Engineer Battalion. We are part of a group of Great Americans that are building things all across a good portion of Iraq and making good things happen.

I am seeking out the other trout bums here who will enjoy the swag. I will make sure the videos and t-shirts get in the right hands.

We appreciate your kindness and generosity. I hope you will pass this on to all who are involved in your projects.

Best of luck,

MAJ Chip Giles

From: LTC Paul Huszar, P.E.

Thanks so much for thinking of us!!! I am truly looking forward to the videos – exactly what the doctor ordered. I’m on month 8 of 15 months deployed in Iraq (second tour, also) running 16 hour days with a half day off on Sundays and can’t wait to make some time to watch the videos.

I’m an avid angler after my father-in-law made a rod for me nearly ten years ago, taught myself through great pain and suffering the first several months, then hit Yellowstone in route to a temporary duty station driving across country. Hired a guide and life has not been the same since. My father-in-law and I have now become great fishing buddies and every summer since then (when I’m not deployed) we take a family vacation to a fly-fishing destination.

We hit Vermont and the Battenkill this past summer before I deployed and have done Yellowstone, hiked into Yosemite, northern California near Tahoe, northern New Mexico, North Carolina mountains, and a few others – a true passion and great stress relief from Army life in the middle of a crystal clear stream. Only my wife and kids can excite me as much as a good rise on a dry fly!

Thanks again, truly! I certainly appreciate the gesture of support.

Most sincerely,

LTC Paul Huszar, P.E.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. This was quickly followed by success in the ski business where Thule’s Swedish heritage certainly helped the product gain rapid acceptance.

From this decision grew the strategy to design and manufacture products in the USA for the US market. Members of AEG Media: Chris Owens, Thad Robison, Justin Crump and Brian Jill, known as the “AEG Fish Bums”, founded the film tour in 2006. This annual event will be traveling to 125 U.S. venues this year. In 2009, AEG Media will take the film tour international to destinations including Europe and Japan. Online ticket sales begin January 1st 2008. Click here for theaters near you.

The best way to keep up to date on any film tour happenings is by signing up for our newsletter “Waist Deep”. All registered individuals are automatically eligible for our January Play and Win Contest, where we will be giving away prizes every day leading up to the tour launch at the end of the month. AEG has selected exciting destinations in Alaska, British Columbia, Washington and Oregon to film their next journey.

The AEG crew will work side by side with the Wild Steelhead Coalition to expose the over harvest, habitat degradation, poor hatchery practices, construction of impassable barriers to migration, and misguided management strategies. The crew has been assigned to explore the miles of sandy flats and see if the rumors of large and unsuspecting bonefish are true. Mayaguana is an undeveloped and unexplored fishery and the team is excited about the possibilities. This is the first in a series of salt water destinations AEG will be fishing over the next few years, hopes are to bring a new view into the world of salt water fly fishing. The release date for the film is not currently set but we expect the finished product will be available in the fall of 2008.

Winter 2008/2009
Christmas on Christmas

Directly south of the Hawaiian Islands, sitting just 119 above the equator sits a fly-fishing paradise of epic proportions. AEG is helping promote a new earth friendly movement that is gaining popularity across the country, biodiesel.

With an announcement today comes news of a partnership between Seattle based Propel Biofuels (www.propelbiofuels.com) and AEG. Propel Biofuels builds, owns and operates a network of biodiesel filling stations providing drivers convenient access to renewable, clean-burning fuels. The Seattle-based company was founded in 2004 to offer drivers, station owners and fleet operators a cleaner fuel choice that both reduces carbon emissions and America’s dependency on foreign oil.

While the AEG team is fueling their Suburban with a much greener and friendlier solution, Propel will monitor the decrease in CO2 emissions, achieved using biodiesel, and will compile a comprehensive report documenting the results of the trip. According to Propel, biodiesel emits between 48 to 65 percent less carbon monoxide than petroleum based diesels, and because it’s base is made from the oil of canola and soy beans, it is renewable and easier on the environment.

Fish Bum 2 is the first project AEG will film stateside after previous efforts in Argentina, New Zealand, and recently Mongolia. Filming will take place in Washington, Oregon, California, and British Columbia during the spring and fall of 2008, with plans to release the final product in December of 2008.

To track the progress of AEG’s next film and learn more information about biodiesel, visit www.aegmedia.com/blog/tbd

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. Armed with three HD cameras, a bio-diesel suburban, and a silver house on wheels, the crew will spend four months in the field, floating, hiking, and exploring some of the best steelhead streams in the world. AEG has selected exciting destinations in Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon to film their next journey. They will be keeping their blog current with up-to-date action and will also be recording a series of pod-casts live from the field. The project will be shot in the spring and fall of 2008 with a release date of December 15th, 2008 just in time for the holidays.

Fishbum 2: The Journey will follow four anglers up and down the Pacific Coast in search of steelhead. A team comprised of two men and two women will lead the charge into the unknown, finding out first hand why the fish have addicted so many. Follow the group as they live riverside for months, battle the sometimes harsh coastal weather patterns and see the satisfaction first hand as each fish is brought to shore.

With previous expeditions to far off destinations such as Iceland, Argentina, New Zealand, and recently a two-month stint in Mongolia, this will be the first time the AEG team has undertaken a project stateside. The relative proximity to the AEG base camp in Merlin, Oregon will allow the crew to film in ways they never have before. With the help of camera cranes, dollies, and high line rope systems, this film will have some of the most technical and stunning angles of steelhead fly fishing ever captured.

Though the film will be focused on the adventure and excitement of the trip, there will be time taken to highlight the serious issues facing steelhead in today’s changing world. With help from the Wild Steelhead Coalition a group dedicated to restoring runs of wild steelhead in the northwest, AEG hopes to bring awareness to the declining steelhead runs found up and down the Pacific Coast. The team will be conducting interviews and spending time with a number of fisheries biologists as well as members of the concerned community to better understand the problems and portray them to viewers.

So prepare yourself for the steelhead journey of a lifetime. They wanted to be involved in the developing world of fly fishing and to explore and fly fish in areas previously impossible to reach. From the very beginning they understood that fly-fishing was a way of life, and dreams about big money were abandoned and replaced with the passion of pursuing their destiny. Loop was born!

The first Loop large arbor reel hit the market in 1984; most anglers found it totally bizarre. Loop had little success getting the tradition-bound fly fishers of the time to buy such a weird fly reel. It took a few years for the reel to make its impression, but today over 20 years later nearly all fly reels are built according to the Loop standard.

Today Loop designs, develops and manages every manufacturing process of their gear themselves. All Loop products are designed and built to last and function in the world’s toughest conditions, season after season. Loop has been a leader in the fly fishing industry for over twenty years. Today they are focused on delivering their branded products internationally.

AEG Media is helping with their international efforts. AEG is dedicated to exclusively using Loops rods and reels, over the next five years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. Alpinism remains at the heart of a worldwide business that still makes clothes for climbing – as well as for skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running.

Patagonia’s values reflect those of a business started by a band of climbers and surfers, and the minimalist style they promoted. The approach they take towards product design demonstrates a bias for simplicity and utility.

For Patagonia, a love of wild and beautiful places demands participation in the fight to save them, and to help reverse the steep decline in the overall environmental health of the planet. They donate their time, services and at least 1% of sales to hundreds of grassroots environmental groups all over the world who work to help reverse the tide.

Staying true to their core values during thirty-plus years in business has helped create a company they are proud to run and work for. And their focus on making the best products possible has brought Patagonia much success in the marketplace.

AEG is dedicated to using Patagonia’s clothing and gear, over the next three years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. Their gear performs in conditions that kill other sunglasses. Their frames fit like second skin, with lenses that show the world in living color.

Costa Del Mar’s philosophy is simple: They want to look back on a life well-lived, a life like a pair of broken-in hiking boots crusty with equal parts jungle mud and black sand. They’ll leave cruise ship buffets and tour bus escapes for others. To them, they taste like imitation crab legs, and they prefer the real thing.

The way they see it, the best equipment in the world won't catch a thing if the waters are empty. Every ocean, river, lake and stream is a resource and a responsibility. They want future generations to feel the snap of a fish on the line, and they do it by working with other groups to get the job done.

AEG is dedicated to using Costa Del Mar’s gear, over the next three years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. The four new lines all have significant advantages over anything else on the market. Scientific Anglers have an ongoing challenge to their scientists and taper designers, and that is to set a new standard in performance for every line that carries their name. It is not an easy undertaking and it requires much trial and error and extensive testing – not only on the water but also in laboratories. Fortunately they have unparalleled resources and the finest fly fishing minds in the business dedicated to building better fly lines. The list of advancements is unmatched and they're only getting started. They believe that there is much, much more to fly fishing than just the scenery.

Their processes and methodologies have improved greatly since their early innovations, nearly a century ago, and as they continue to enhance fly line performance, the industry continues to follow suit. Scientific Anglers pioneered the use of powdered tungsten in their sinking lines two decades ago, and they continue to perfect and optimize its usage. That may come as a surprise to some, because tungsten is now being heralded as a new technology. That's Scientific Anglers role – to lead and help the entire industry in building the future of the fly-fishing fly line process.

AEG is dedicated to using Scientific Anglers gear, over the next three years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. Dylan had previously worked at William Joseph, and Erin was coming off years in the Outdoor Education field including stints with NOLS. The initial focus was to design products "that improve the fishing experience," which is why that phrase has become our tag line. This meant taking a critical look at the gear our friends and we were using on the water. Such reflection led to design changes in women's technical jackets, and every fishing tool available. Over the last four years, Rising tools have consistently won fans and awards for their design and quality, an acknowledgment that the designs were solid and made fishing easier for anglers of all styles. After four years Rising is still small and lean and eager to design new gear that improves the fishing experience.

AEG is dedicated to using Rising’s gear, over the next three years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films. The answer you receive depends on who you talk with and the mood they're in. Honestly, it's either a rocky peak in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness Area outside Steamboat Springs, a laid-back mountain town mama or dependable backcountry gear. They think it represents a little bit of each and everything in between.

They've spent a lot of time in the local backcountry so they feel downright connected to it. They name their products after local history, places, peaks and rivers, which they believe is always a fun process. It brings back memories of trips both successful and epic and hopefully inspires you to come explore.

AEG is dedicated to using Big Agnes’s gear, over the next three years, in all film productions as well as promoting their product line on the film tour.

AEG Media is an adventure media company based in Merlin, OR whose enterprise includes an annual film tour event and feature films.
